Yas will be on the Annie Mayfield podcast on the 9th
I read what the podcast is about and... thank you but I'll pass 008
Is Yas pro LGBTQ? I don’t really understand her other career choices. I can’t imagine playing Lucy and not being a real ally, but she honestly screams religious crazy sometimes.
Well, she played lesbian twice although I only consider Lucy her first real lgbt role... so... it would be crazy to be homophobic and sign up for a lesbian role.
Imagine her joining the podcast and atone her sins for playing a lesbian lol

I'm just joking...

I just think she comes across as really accepting and open minded about different things, which is a good thing.
What has she done that screams crazy religious?

Can't think of anything. Maybe OP was referring to her doing The Chosen, but that's just a role. It doesn't mean anything.

I think the "religious" roles (if she did more than 1) are tied to her being from Texas rather than her being 'religious' (we don't even know what her religion is...)

And we've seen her kiss women in two separate projects. You don't do that if you're homophobic.

Also, did you all forget all the interviews she's done and how enthusiastic she is when talking abt playing as Lucy Tara? or the fact that she was the only one from the cast to use the word 'lesbian' when referring to Lucy?

If I remember correctly, she said in an interview she joined The Chosen because it was just "around the corner", like, that was the main reason why she liked being on the show.

I don't care much what an actor or actress says in an interview because they could be lying to look good, but I seriously think she's anything but homophobic. Who on earth would audition for a role they knew from the get go their character was a lesbian if anti lgbt?? Come on... Girl just seem the type of persona who doesn't care about gender, sexual orientation, etc... a free spirit. She doen't have a problem with lesbians, just islands surrounded by ocean  =_=

The interviewer mentions God/faith a few times but Yas never really elaborates about if she’s religious or not. The questions are more just about how people live their lives, Yas’ acting.
The interviewer mentions The Chosen and NCIS but they don’t actually talk about either.
She also talks about social media and obviously Texas and the Dallas cowboys haha

Yas is so over ncis Hawaii, if we manage to save this show it won’t be with Yas back as Lucy and then what’s the point.

I dont think it's coming back.

But, if it were to come back without Lucy it would be a loss but I'd still watch it. Tori did such a good job as Kate. And she's such a natural scene stealer, I'd watch her peel potatoes tbh.

Plus I do like Jane as a leader with her secrets/not 100% virtuous edge, I love Maggie's character (the female nemesis/bestie angle is great), and the female rep was better than most mainstream tv.

Kate could move on. It's an excuse for more angst with eventual HEA.
So, I'd take it.

Agreeing with you. Usually, when one half of my fav couple leaves, I'm over it. But, as much as I love Kacy, say the show somehow comes back, and Yas won't be part, I would give "new Lucy" a shot. Because it's one thing if an actress gets fired, that's a dealbreaker, but if an actress doesn't want to come back, there is nothing to do and in fact, I woudn't want an uninvolved person to stick with Kacy just because. I'm saying this as someone who LOVES Lucy and think Yas and Tori were perfect for Kacy and had incredible chemistry. Obvs, these are only ifs, I don't think there's a chance Hawaii is gonna be back.

I think replacing Lucy would be hard. That chemistry and clash/eventual complimenting of personalities was a bit of magic.
But it did seem like Yas's heart wasn't in it or, maybe more likely, they squeezed the life out of that pairing in season 3.
So it wouldn't be a huge leap to lose Lucy. A real shame of course but doable.
IF it was to come back (I doubt it will).

It’s kind of hard not to read into things, she’s been posting on her story a lot today, reposting fans and replying back. When has she ever done that for Hawaii??
The Yas defenders can’t say anything now, when it’s so clear she doesn’t care about ncis Hawaii and Lucy at all. She didn’t post about the show when it was on and she didn’t post about the show when it got cancelled and not a word when the series finale aired.

I think that those of you who feel this was about Yas should show her the same treatment: stop talking about her and move on. Whining that she doesn't say or do what you want, especially now the show has been cancelled, is pointless.

Actors play a lot of different roles in their career and I think it’s normal that they’d get attached to some roles/characters more than others. I do think that Yas loved playing Lucy and NCIS Hawai’i but clearly The Chosen was something very special to her.

I didn't want to watch it/listen to it at first but I did just now thanks to your post and I actually enjoyed it very much! Obviously the host is very religious but it seems that it doesn't affect her negatively, she even mentioned how cool it is that Yas is able to do such different roles as NCIS Hawaii and The Chosen and at the very end she says she's going to be tuning into NCIS Hawaii episode on CBS on Monday (seems like they filmed this podcast at the end of February). So it was like actually very uplifting to see that not all religious The Chosen fans are excluding LGBT people/topics from their organizations or events or whatever. Very cool and insightful podcast overall.

I gotta agree with you... There is no point in complaining about Yas anymore. She moved on. She doesn't care about Hawaii. So why waste time and give her attention when she's over the show? Best to ignore and move on. Or engage in a more proficuous debate. She won't suddendly start parading around with a Kacy tshirt with a #saveHawaii all over it just because people wanted her to show some appreciation...
If anything, go write to CBS and complain they cancelled a great show with strong, female representation, full of POC actors and with a beloved lesbian couple, without any sense.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if some are "cheating" this year in our fandom. I know some other fandoms do it for every polls but the previous years the numbers in our fandom were consistent (numbers for the show, actresses), not this year. I saw it was useless because of that and voted once then done.

It was the semifinale, we were very behind, and I mean very, can't remember against which other tv character, and it was just a few hours before the poll was closed. I was like oh no, Lucy isn't gonna make it to the finale, too bad. One or two hours later, just before the closing time, not only there was a massive influx of votes for Lucy, but we won double digits! lol That's when I knew...
Like I said, it's common practice in fandoms. Let's not forget the same people move from one fandom to the other so they know the "magic trick".

IKR?! Dunno which of the two is worse. I remember Jason saying Sydney wasn't even supposed to air in the States but somehow it did and they kept it because it's incredibile cheap. Nowadays, this is the mentality of networks: produce a bunch of cheap, boring, male ridden, no sense spinoffs regardless of quality of production, acting and writing. As long as it's low budget, they'll keep it and axe good quality shows with solid ratings like Hawaii =_=

I don't care about polls, like ever, exactly because of this. But good luck to the "voters" :P Make both our girls proud lol
So they are cheating again for one of them for a thank you video? Got it.
Lol I didn't mean that, I only told what I saw, but, now that you make me think, could be

There is one poll that's not rigged tough, NCIS Sidney being least favorite in the new drama series category lmao
I cant beleive we lost Hawaii to keep Sydney afloat and to give the creepy dude from the OG his own show. :rage:
I hope that now we have no more strikes. NCIS: Sydney miserably tanks, and the same goes for *rigins. I hope the show with that creep fails too, but it seems unlikely as CBS looks like they are going all out for it, and their fans don't seem to care that the main lead is a misogynistic prick and some are amready painting his victim as a liar.

They are 100% "cheating" and I can tell why, I saw it with my own eyes. Remember that poll about your favo character and Lucy Tara won, Yas made a thank you video afterwards? It was the semifinale, we were very behind, and I mean very, can't remember against which other tv character, and it was just a few hours before the poll was closed. I was like oh no, Lucy isn't gonna make it to the finale, too bad. One or two hours later, just before the closing time, not only there was a massive influx of votes for Lucy, but we won double digits! lol That's when I knew...

To make it worse they think they'll make it all better by giving the really annoying lab based woman in the OG a gf. Like we don't care about the characters or anything else about the show as long as the give us a pair of random lezzers (whats the bet theyll be poly or genderfluid or bi at best?).
I for one will not be watching the OG.

Exactly. These out of touch producers think all lesbians want is seeing two woman make out and we happy :eyeroll: I'm not interested in bisluts. Kacy was amazing because of the chemistry between Yas&Tori, the writing, the charaterization, their build up, etc...
I for sure won't be watching OG or anything CBS related. Their blatant homophobia and hatred for women has turned me off forever.

The poll "war" is cracking me up!
I don't what's funnier, Marina fandom with max 2 votes distance between their two ladies or crazy voting for Yas as if she's gonna make a thanks video for a third place in a poll

I admire the commitment some fandom have for a pointless poll, I wouldn't do it for money!

This might be stupid, but is anyone else still having a hard time with this cancellation? I tried to think positive and say I’ll find something else to follow/watch, but there is nothing else out there! Or maybe I just haven’t discovered it yet. I’ll obviously be fine, but this one really sucks for me. I think it’s because it hit on so many fronts. KACY, the clear message CBS is sending women and because I really thought this would be around for a while! I think it also feels empty because Tori and Yas don’t really use social media a lot and without the rest of the cast to post something with them in it, it’s like they’re gone. Yas has actually been more active online than Tori lately, but only reposting stuff. Not faulting either of them, they need to do what they need to do. Just miss them in the bts of private get together photos. Ugh, anyway just sharing some frustration and checking to see if I’m the only one.

I personally swore off most TV shows with lesbians after the cancellation. Now, I'll only watch those types of shows if it has a huge fan base and writers who actually care about their characters.
Depressingly, this leaves me with only one show, which is something I never thought I'd say 5 or 6 years ago. :pensivebread:

These days, I'm happy reading my fanfics and even though, like you, I haven't watched any shows since the cancellation, I know in the future I'll only be watching/rewatching critically acclaimed/limited series.

I refuse to go through the heartbreak of losing my favorite characters or shows again.

This show ain’t coming back, I was a part of the fight for Wynonna and we did fight for a long ass time but this show is lost and people should move on.
CBS couldn’t care less about Hawaii and there’s no way they’re bringing it back

Oh yeah I remember those times. I always move on from a show and try to find a new one. But I do remember WE fans really going all out for their show. It almost never changes anything.

When is it Tori will be attending (uh now I can’t remember the name of it!) in the UK? And do we know if there will be any footage from it?

Thank you for your answer. So quite a while still!
It’s really like it’s all coming to an end. The fan fics are still somewhat going, but other than that it seems done. Sad!

There’s not really any good fanfics in this fandom, I’ve read like maybe two that have actual good plot and good writing.

I’m actually gutted that we won’t get the show back, there was so much potential there. I’m happy Kacy didn’t end on a cliffhanger but there was definitely some friction in the last half of the season…

I agree! It’s getting a little better for me with time, but I have been (still am most of the time) really gutted that they canceled it. As you said, there was SO much potential and so many more stories to tell. And even though I always knew nothing is ever really certain, it felt good to “know” this would be a longer running show, with plenty of time to explore the couple🙄 And the worst part is that it’s not just Hawai’i, it seems like every wlw show is getting cancelled. It’s like it’s getting worse than it has been in years!

Gangs all together in Hawaii…well expect for Yas and Noah ofc..
if they really wanted to be with everyone they would find the time. It’s obvious they’re kind of over the whole thing.

Nice to see Tori, Vanessa, Jason and Alex though

It's most likely one of the last time that this group of people who live on the island at the moment meet together.
Vanessa is relocating to California:
