Dont know if this has been talked about yet, but apparently Neil told the script apart podcast that the original ending for Ellie had her returning to the farmhouse, finding J.J.s toy and stuffing it in her backpack then leaving. Leading players to believe Ellie had the intention of returning to Dina and J.J. but decided to change it to leave it more open ended. Haven't listed to the podcast myself yet but he also said there was zero work done on TLOU 3 and I also read on another site that the outline had been written. So who knows.

Sure, let's talk. I loved the game, did you do a run on grounded yet? The game comes alive at the highest difficulties imh and it's even better if you switch on permadeath, even just the chapter option gives it that higher stakes vibe that complements the game perfectly.
I loved the gameplay in Abby's parts more and hunting down enemies in stealth with Ellie, but I'll be honest, the story left me a bit butthurt and a bit disappointed compared to part I.
I didn't love how they developed Ellie compared to her personality in the first game and I was disappointed that they gave Abby the role they gave her because she's such a rad character and I wanted everybody to love her, which of course was kinda impossible considering the story they went for.
Did you play part I and Left Behind too? You really need to if you didn't.

This remind me that I still haven't finished it, I am at day two of Abby and can't really make myself go through that.

Anyway story wise I didn't like it as much as part 1 (the whole pregnancy ish was highly unnecessary), gameplay wise tho? 10000× better I love the crawling and evasion options with a passion. I am guessing there will be a part 3, will be interesting to see how they go about it since from what I've read it kinda went with a close ending.

Shannon said there was a general outline for TLOU3 after that story about it came out--sounded like she knew what happens in it. I hope they follow through. If they do, it's probably far of given the TV show. I really want Ashley and Shannon to show up in the series but that probably won't happen =/

They had a gold mine and a masterpiece with the first game and they ran it into the ground with Part two by taking away all that made people love the first one, making Ellie a repulsive self absorbed emo psycho, ruining Joel by retroactively presenting him like an equally psycho criminal, ruined Abby previously well received character (yeah, for people that were not in the fandom at the time even the knucledragging incels loved that jacked up woman with a ton of muscles and a hammer when they had no idea of the story arc ND had in store for her and a bunch of people thought she could be Anna or a different new playable character).
The incles were so emotionally invested in Ellie and Joel that they were giving an unfeminine woman with muscles a chance, they were excited because in the trailer it looked like she was a playable character and they couldn't wait to smash infected in a close combat with a jacked woman without balloon boobs, make up an miniskirts as a playable character.
Go fucking figure, for a second it looked like ND was really giving it a good shot at trying to make the cavetrolls evolve into the home sapiens by making them enjoy playing as a muscly woman that was the polar opposite of the characters usually designed to pander to their deep incelling existence, except it turned out to just be bait and then the zeitgeist predictably turned to hate and trolling after the plot was revealed in the leaks.

Bruce Straley binned the original Tess' revenge plot in part one because crossing the country for revenge in a deadly dangerous post apocalypse was so stupid and ridiculous that it wouldn't feel organic or relatable to people, while finding new hope in a desperate situation and then throwing it all in the fire for love is so so relatable to most people. Love is relatable, clinging to hope no matter what and protecting the people you love no matter the cost are relatable, torturing people for revenge is not, leaving a safe shelter and second chances with people you love in a post apocalypse to go kill somebody to get the last word is not relatable, maybe somebody should update ND about the fact that most gamers are not wannabe psychokillers despite the media representation of them.

They really missed the mark with part two, all that fell into place naturally in part one because it's part of the human experience feels so forced in the second because it's not normal to empathize with a psychopatic idiot and all the main characters behave like psychopatic idiots in a way or another, Ellie's downfall was particularly painful and they turned her into a completely unrelatable jackass and I say it as somebody that loves Abby as much as I loved Joel and Ellie in part one.
Don't even get me started on a straight male hijacking the representation of gay women and botching it so badly that they had to bring in a female cowriter half way just to deflect the criticism.

I'm finally playing it for the first time (just finished the birthday gift chapter) and it's so, so good!
Spoilers for all the big plot points were unavoidable of course, but I'm still finding myself amazed by this game all the time.
Also, there's so much to explore and I'm terrible at finding the collectibles

28 hours to beat it, some random thoughts below

• Such a tragic story, and we have no power to stop the characters from making the wrong choices. I'm never forgiving Ellie for leaving the farm.
• Dina and Ellie
• Whoever made the choice to add dogs in this game is pure evil
• I was afraid I wouldn't be able to engage with Abby's storyline as much as Ellie's, but I really liked playing as her
• Yara
• Haters keep saying that Playstation Studios output are more movies than games, they're wrong, the combat in this was fucking great
• The Rat King is big and it takes a lot of damage to kill it but the scariest encounter in the game by far is that one building floor full of stalkers
• Didn't really care for the Rattlers at the end, maybe it was just fatigue setting in, but the WLF and the Seraphites were much more complex enemies. It also felt weird how short that chapter was like some content was cut maybe?
• How easy is it to actually bite someone's finger off?
