Got the booster this weekend since my second shot was in January and I work in one of the busiest hospitals in the US. Hand down it was the worst of the 3, side effect wise. I got a pretty gnarly headache with the first one and that was about it. This one had me feeling pretty crappy the entire weekend, including my arm feeling on fire. Now the first two I had at my workplace through their initiative, this one I had to go to a local pharmacy because we're working on our mandate for employees at work before the booster.
My mom also works at a hospital and got the 3rd shot and also had side effects, but only for 24 hours. I think she had quite a bit of pain in her arm. She had to take a Tylenol and then laughed that she hasn't had to take Tylenol for 30 years (i.e. the pain was somewhat serious for her and she woke up in the night from the pain). The pain dissipated the next day.
DA

Were they full dose vaccines, or the half dose like they’re saying is or will be recommended for the third one?

I work in a hospital and if offered, will get it (Moderna) there like the first two. I wonder if recipients specify it’s their third one, that they’ll get the half dose vaccine

This article on boosters says: "A third dose of the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer or Moderna) is identical to the first two doses." https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.hopkin ... 3famp=true
Hope this helps.

Sorry you've caught covid for a 2nd time. Hope you get well soon. Personally, I've never caught covid as I've been super careful as it's been spreading like wildfire in my country. I appreciate that not everyone has the luxury to be as careful as I have, having the ability to work from home throughout and not needing to use public transport.

Just get tested. It's very likely you just have the common cold or other type of virus. It's coming into flu season too if you're in the northern hemisphere.

Could be. But keep track of it in case. One thing I do is take about a half teaspoon of oregano every few days, or days I may be around a lot of people. It’s supposed to have anti-viral properties. Other herbs have that also, but I’m not sure which ones. I have a bottle of dried oregano, pour some in my hand, pop it into my mouth, kind of moisten it a little with saliva otherwise it’s a bit difficult when you try to drink it down with water. The only thing is, you’ll start smelling like oregano in a few days. Lol. It if it helps in any way, what the heck, most people are wearing masks anyway lol

I’ve no idea if it really helps or not, but supposedly the Spartan warriors used to drink water infused with anti-viral herbs, like rosemary, and it was believed that it helped keep them healthier.

A new descendant of the Delta variant is being monitored in Britain. The AY.4.2 or Delta plus as it is also known might give the virus survival advantages. Delta is the dominant variant in Britain but data is suggesting 6% of covid cases that have been genetically sequenced are of the new type.

DA but the last major antivax protest here was organised by guys who all coincidentally belong to a far right nationalist party with white supremacist links, and it concluded when they singled out a well known lesbian civil rights activist to beat with a 2x4 they'd wrapped in a flag.

Yep. I don't agree with Izzy on everything, but she was on the front line of the rights movement here since the year dot and I give respect where it's due. The National Party (and their cousin crackpots hovering around Gilroy) are not people you ever want to find on your side, because they're far right wing, violent and thick as pigshit. The National Party are absolutely fascist, and they have absolutely done a lot of driving for the anti mask/vax movement here.

Great that one guy is gone to jail, but all his shitheel little buddies who bring batons and iron bars to their "peaceful" marches and scream about immigrants at "freedom" rallies are still around.

I'll give you a summary:-

Javid said we could soon see 100,000 new cases a day. He was chilled about that, I as an NHS Dr am not. Its terrifying.

He confirmed we will be sticking with plan A and not implementing plan B. Let's just take a minute to acknowledge what plan A is, its stick fingers in ears, hum loudly, gaslight the public, deny everything and pretend covid is over.

The fact that Javid refused to implement plan B given this governments record so far I think it's safe to say that plan B will be implemented as soon as Cop26 is done. Plan B will of course involve dither and delay then they will reluctantly introduce some half arsed measure when it is already too late.

Javid said that the government did not believe the pressure on the NHS is unsustainable. I say listen to NHS staff who are speaking to the media and tweeting what is really going on. Plus they literally had to get the army in to help out.

Protect the NHS and saving lives are slogans no longer on the governments agenda such slogans are confined to the bin. He spoke of deaths being mercifully low, really! tell that to the loved ones of the 954 lives lost to covid in the last 7 days. It really won't he long before we are recording over a 1,000 deaths routinely every week.

Javid dodged responsibility and transferred it to individuals by warning them to get jabbed, boasters, wear masks and meet outside without actually following his own advice by not wearing masks at party conference and at parliament. Refused to mandate for it.

Generally more gaslighting of the public.

On restrictions Javid said if people don't take up boosters, wear face masks in crowded places and wash hands regularly "it will hit us," all this winter.

Why then did they drop restrictions into first place.

Learning to live with covid is different to learning to ignore covid.

Poential good news a Brazilian Senator has formally presented a report recommending President Jair Bolsonaro be indicted on criminal charges for his handling or rather bungling of Brazil's response to the pandemic. It calls for Bolsonaro to be indicted on a series of charges including crimes against humanity, misuse of public funds, homicide and genocide.

Let's hope this lunatic gets his due.

Boris Johnson deserves to be indicted on similar charges but I won't hold my breath.

I got my first dose of Pfizer on Tuesday and I threw up a bit on Wednesday. I was kinda surprised because I wasn’t expecting a major side effect until the 2nd dose. I was literally in the middle of eating and I suddenly had to run to the bathroom because I felt nauseous. Surely, if it were food poisoning, it wouldn’t have happened so quickly, right? I didn’t have a stomach ache or anything. Just instant nausea and vomiting.

Imaging Johnson's responsibilities just in case is not trolling. Many people died in the UK because of his politics, it's a fact. I'm just glad the Queen is getting better. Many people did not share her luck.

Go tell I'm a troll to people who lost a relative because of Johnson's choices. It's a thread about covid and many people died in the UK. It's a fact. Feel free to discuss my opinions if you don't agree with them. Tagging me as a troll just because you don't agree with me it's for losers. My comments are not OT, it means you can't reply with facts, so you just ask for mods' help.
:fool:
Well said.

I often get called a troll and all I've done is post facts and stats from proper sources. Basically if you criticise Boris Johnson or his government you get called a troll by the UK's biggest Boris and Tory fan.
If you're not a troll why are you so bothered by a "don't feed the troll" comment that wasn't connected to your post? :eyeroll:
da it's just because a "don't feed the troll" is just a gif everyone can click on it?! :fool:
The more people are weak to defend their opinions the more they need to tag as trolls the ones they disagree with.
So instead of asking why people are tagged as trolls, just ask yourself why people have to tag them as trolls in order to silence them.
Cancel culture, that's it. So sad to see it on a forum that should be meant to accept different opinions because of its nature.

No sore arm, fever, headache?
Maybe you just ate something that made you sick to your stomach.
OP I had a sore arm but nothing else

I'm pissed off with healthy people losing their shit at slight restrictions being placed on them for the medium term but they are ok with vulnerable people either risking death or being locked away forever.

1 in 60 British people had Covid last week. 7-10k more deaths expected by the end of the year.

Has anyone here who has been double-vaccinated caught covid? I've got my two doses but there's a high amount of cases in my area so I'm resigned to catching it at some point even if I take precautions like masks and good hygiene. If you did catch covid despite being vaxxed, what were your symptoms like? I can live with mild symptoms like runny nose and feeling tired for a week or so, but I will be absolutely furious if I lose my sense of smell or taste :argh: . Lol, it's my main motivation to still be careful! I honestly will be so pissed off if I cannot enjoy food(and no, before anyone says it, I am not obese and in danger of death, I eat and savour food in healthy portions and exercise daily).

I got my J&J shot at the end of May and now it turns out I have to get a second dose ASAP.
Any info/experience about it? Please share.

I think my wife and I have got covid after having both doses. Just hoping it's a common flu though.
