It's a good thing there are so many streamers out there with much more opportunities for projects now. So if Cat decides to leave before Grey's ends or she stays til the end, Cat will have some options for projects. I just want her to shine and thrive in projects where she can flex those acting muscles. She doesn't get to do it often on Grey's, but when she does, she eats it up. Would love to see her in like Apple TV or HBO projects. Just in projects where she shines.

You know I always wondered how Kate Walsh made money these days aside from her perfume line because she doesn't really do much anymore and when she does it's an indie or short film or guest spots on greys but I just remembered she would be getting residuals from Grey's and private practice too. And even though PP probably is streamed nowhere close to as much as Grey's is it would still be a mighty nice cushion.
Kate also has been in popular projects like 13 reasons why, the umbrella academy and Emily in Paris, so consistent-ish work in between the years too. There's bound to be some good residuals there. And she's just made a guest spot run on a new Australian tv show. So she's got cushion.

I agree with previous anon that if hermit actors can go for long periods without projects and just rely on residuals and maybe some side hustles, Cat definitely can as well. If she ever wants to have a small break when Grey's ends or when she chooses to leave, she'll be cushioned enough from at least PP and Grey's residuals.
To be fair umbrella, 13 and Emily in Paris are over for her now but I suppose she would still be getting residuals and I wouldn't necessarily call her recent appearance on the Aussie tv show a guest spot Rin because she was only in an episode but your point still stands.

She's also been helping get a studio up and running on western Australia which I'm sure she's getting payed somehow for

It's a little funny to me that because of streaming everyone on ths Grey's cast can still get payed for episodes that are 20 years old. Like obviously they deserve it but it was also obviously not a thing they would've ever imagined being possible
Okay tbf, I haven't had time to watch her new Aussie tv show, I've just seen the promos with her in it 😅. So I don't know if it's a huge paycheck or not, but it's still a paycheck at least. But yeah, she's got a few other small side hustles in Western Australia going on which I'm sure she gets paid for as well.

And yeah, as long as Grey's still reruns on tv and is still up on streaming, everyone is still getting those residuals. Even if it's 1 cent.
I've always wondered this maybe you have an answer

Is there a reason why Grey's never really aired reruns on tv like SVU did/still does? Like you can't even turn the TV on without seeing an episode of svu but Grey's only airs once and then your done even back before streaming took hold as far as I know

I think that Cat isn’t just tight with the showrunner. So she doesn’t get really more screentime or storyline. I also lean on her being disappointed about kaimelia being gutted abruptly but in fairness it was extended because of their chemistry (but not to the point of threatening to leave) But we also discussed about how amelia probably won’t go back to men after Kai so it’s a bit of a mystery if cat indeed would not want Monica and Amelia. Unless of course it’s true that ER is controlling Cat and barged inside the writer’s room and demanded not to give Amelia a LI 😅

It doesn’t really matter why Kaimelia was extended - if she was indeed upset about it being gutted so abruptly and then them seemingly wanting to immediately replace it, than she has every right to feel that way (and no I don’t think she threatened to quit). Also your last sentence is not funny, it just sounds stupid atp.

That's assuming she wants to keep acting and wouldn't rather pivot to directing or writing or something more behind the scenes. Whi h I could honesty see her doing.

Honestly, I will take whatever streamer if it means we get to see Cat on screen. Whichever streamer has the best material and projects to offer Cat. But I wonder what kind of projects she'd be interested in doing. I can honestly see her doing all genres, from dramas to comedies to family friendly to mysteries like crime and the more nitty gritty shows. Cause we know she's got the acting chops to do it. I just don't want her to be stereotyped after Grey's. But this may be a long way away since Grey's just doesn't seem to be ending anytime soon.

She hasn't directed anything but she has said she would be interested. The Ability magazine interview toward the end she said she would be interested in working on that aspect of things.

Yeah it is took Ellen to make America Family all of 20 years. But I feel that Caterina will be able to land a good project after Grey’s. Maybe not as big of a project like Grey’s but a good one. And yeah, though it’s nice to have Grey go on like forever, it would be nice for her to be able to try new things.

I think everyone who was/is interested in directing from the cast gets the chance. Especially in the earlier seasons so many actors directed episodes in greys like Kevin, Kim, Chandra, Sarah Drew, Jesse, Ellen, Giacomo, Paramedic Nicole Cummins and of corse Debbie Allen and a few station 19 actors directed there too (Boris, Jason, Stefania, Danielle) so if Cat would wanted to direct or shadow a director like Danielle was recently and also Jake Borelli was talking about shadowing Debbie Allen I‘m sure Cat would have gotten the chance.

Maybe she’ll direct something else after greys but greys seems to be a good chance to get in to directing if someone is interested.

Look, I’m just saying that’s what she said. I don’t think it’s crazy to say that if they won’t let her write, then they probably wouldn’t let her direct. Also it didn’t sound like the reason for not letting her write had anything to do with her being one of the actors.

Look, I’m just saying that’s what she said. I don’t think it’s crazy to say that if they won’t let her write, then they probably wouldn’t let her direct. Also it didn’t sound like the reason for not letting her write had anything to do with her being one of the actors.
Do you really think if she was being treated so poorly to the point they wouldn’t even let her direct if she wanted to she would still be there?? I think you just like to make stuff up in your head

lol why don’t you ask her, all I did was repeat what she said about how they probably wouldn’t let her write.

Weird question but does Dr Odyssey of good enough ratings that they'll get picked up for another season?

I'm asking because Ryan Murphy has a 911 spin-off that's going to be premiering within the next year around the Time season 22 probably is going to premiere and if Dr Odyssey gets a second seasonp I'm trying to figure out where it's going to fit in the time slot and it'll mean for Grey's. If Odyssey gets another season and the 911 shows successful Thursdays are going to end up being Ryan's night sooner rather than later

Dr Odyssey seems not to be doing well as expected but two 911 on same day maybe be a lot so I’m guessing the new 911 will air on a different day. I think they’ll give another season for Dr. Odyssey. For some reason I’m hoping GA will be moved back to 9pm. I feel they’ll get more viewers than what Dr Odyssey has right now.

I personally don't think that gray is ever going to get that 9:00 p.m. time slot back because they're going to want to keep it to try to launch new shows because at 10:00 p.m. time slot just isn't good for trying to watch new shows

See I disagree assuming that for some reason Odyssey doesn't get a second season 911 Nashville is probably just going to take the spot of odyssey so they'll be to 911 shows back to back

It's quite literally not on topic we're talking about something that could possibly affect Grey's timeslot in the long run

Bringing up Doctor Odyssey's ratings in a Kaimelia thread is quite literally not on topic  I'm someone who agrees we should be able to talk about Grey's and Amelia's storylines but some of you lot are insistent upon talking about random stuff like this.

Its not off topic. Dr Odyssey gets picked up again plus the new 911 spin off could affect Grey's as show because if they can have them on the same night they're probably going to want all the Ryan Murphy shows on the same night if not soon then eventually whenever Greys does finally end

They barely give her any material to begin with, you really think they would give her the chance to direct??
One has nothing to do with the other

Exactly. I don’t know what exactly she said but no actor on that show has ever written an episode so it’s not like it’s something that they’re not allowing her to do

It’s been a while now on Thursdays but I remember greys has aired on other days before hasn’t it? For those stream it later online it doesn’t matter as much when it aires because they can watch it when ever they want too so maybe trying a different day wouldn’t a bad idea since it’s not hooked/combined to another show like with station19 before where they probably wanted them to air together so maybe another day with a strong show before maybe even at the 9 pm slot . The strong streaming numbers would stay and they could try to get better numbers on the watching on tv part

If you had bothered to read my reply, you would see where I mentioned what she did didn’t sound like it had anything to do with her being an actor on the show…Maybe go talk to her about it, since you apparently know better than she does.

x2 I can't even believe this is an argument. It's not like this is made up, this is what she said. Talk to her if you don't like it.

All you said was that she didn’t think they would let her write on the show, none of that suggests anything that you’re trying to infer.

This was my next reply since you apparently couldn’t find it.

All I’m saying is that the anon who thought Grey’s probably wouldn’t let her direct may not be completely wrong.
