The way Lucy was jealous of Kate's interest in Alina, then finding out that Kate was the one to break Alina and get information, you just know she went to run and watch those interrogation tapes.
And so she hears Kate saying "the person I care most about"...

Da

i also liked the part of the disappointment on Lucy's face when Kai and his dad walked in; this is what Ernie will point out to her shortly before Kate and her song

There was actually only one tiny thing I didn't love.

Lucy's non reaction when Kate said I love you. I wanted a less stern look. But then there's the fact that she most certainly already knew how Kate felt, it's why she kept walking away and not letting her speak, because she knew she'd fold and she wasn't in a place to do that yet.

But still, I wanted a little more from the reaction. But that's just being nitpicky at this point.

Good point, Lucy's usually so expressive but like you said, no biggie. I'm looking forward to season 2 and even more so knowing it won't be like a year long~ hiatus like other shows

there's a little face drop in that moment but yeah, she does keep that stern look of who's almost not even receiving the words.

the thing that made this ending scene work without the need of some huge conversation, is that the show did a great job handling their break up and path to the reconciliation. To the point that when Kate is doing her grand gesture, it's a symbolism but it's not revealing anything new in itself.
By that moment, both Lucy and Kate are aware each other's feelings. Kate knows Lucy loves her, and Lucy knows Kate loves her. And they know they can't move on from each other. And they know they want to be together. Even in her words, Kate speaks as if the second chance is a given "I will do right this time".
The i love you is not in itself new, not like Lucy's "Because I Loved you, Kate" was. But it still needs to be said and heard.

I can’t wait to see their relationship next season and cute moments and moments of worry when one of them is injured or in the field. I wouldn’t mind a storyline about Noah that somehow resurfaces and they have to do some investigating. I love the angst so I’m hoping for a different kind next season now that they are together and open about it.

By what they're saying for season 2, that should be exactky what is gonna happen.
how they make the relationship function with work, worrisome about situations in the field, what do they want as a couple, individual storylines where the other is there to support, family stuff, probably lots of home moments and perhaps Rock N Bowl

I think they will always be the main couple of the show, for one thing cause it's the one couple with two series regulares and, if anything, Kate will exist as much or even more into season 2, and also cause they have already been established as main couple.

But I can see other couples existing and having longer arcs instead of a one episode thing.
Maybe Kai gets a longer love interest, even if his story is more father and friend oriented.

I feel like dumbass Whistler didn't get it at first that Lucy was jealous when she said "that's her first name." I think maybe Whistler thought Lucy was insinuating that Whistler wasn't being objective and letting her professional admiration for the Russian operative cloud her judgment so she gets defensive, but then it finally hit her and she makes that face at the end. Ha.

I saw that scene as one more example of how when Kate is focused 100% on work, she has no problem compartmentalizing. The more emotional Lucy can get caught up in her emotions and feel threatened by the admiration Kate has for the Russian operative. Kate would struggle to understand why Lucy would be jealous. Ernie saw it immediately, though.

Oh yeah, I know Kate is 100% all the time, she's single-minded that way, and it can come out funny and dumb because other people around her, especially Lucy, have no problem letting their personal lives bleed into their work without necessarily compromising their professional integrity, but Whistler just gets confused. It's a nice contrast, and I love a smart but dumb Whistler.

I thought there would be a scene that explains how Kate knows Skylars name and occupation etc? Do we know how she knows?

Also I read somewhere in an article a few weeks ago that season 2 would probably be out in March of next year! I see a lot of people saying it will be out in September. Did anyone else read the same article as me?

What a final though!

I assume someone (could have been lucy since they were more friendly?) told her about Skyler’s existence and then she probably went to search what the girl did.

But it was an important moment to clarify that Lucy was no longer seeing anyone. It wouldnt be cool for the GG if lucy was still talking to someone else.

I agree with you guys take.
Kate is being all work focused when she is putting those adjectives Alina but Lucy is jealous from the first moment.
They jump into the bickering but it’s only in the end that it hits Kate what is really going on.
It is like the scene in the episode before when Lucy is texting, she gets all personal talking about the text and Kate keeps it all professional.

I love this contrast about them and how they operate at work.

The balance between Lucy and Kate is what makes them a great team. Kate's ability to focus on Alina and not the emotional stuff Lucy is worried about is why she was able to crack Alina and get a name. It isn't that Kate can't see or understand jealousy. She just didn't have time for all that. Lucy's emotional side has come in handy plenty of times at work and reminds Kate sometimes the emotions are important. Both get out of whack when they are apart but they are great as part of the team.

18 out of 19 seasons of NCIS started in September and 1season in November that is why everyone thinks that. March is a weird date for NCIS shows

Apologies if this post gets long. I usually avoid watching shows that take place in Hawaii because they almost always try too hard to show they're in Hawaii with bits of pidgin and Hawaiian that feel inorganic and forced. As such, I've only recently watched through this show and, even though it is no exception (super cringe in certain moments), I'm genuinely loving the show as a whole. And I really think it taking place in Hawaii makes all the difference (despite the forced pidgin). If it took place somewhere else I probably would just watch the Kacy clips.

Anyway, to the point of why I'm making this post, I caught up right before ep 21 aired and felt empty without more to watch so to fill the time before the next ep I decided to read through this thread and there were a couple of things I wanted to address.

The first being that someone asked about not wearing shoes in your own apartment in Hawaii after the first ep aired. Hawaii is a cultural melting pot with large Asian influences in both food and culture. It's a big no-no to wear shoes in doors here and, since we don't wear shoes indoors, the floors aren't really dirty so it's not really gross (it's also an unspoken rule that you don't get into bed at night without at least washing your feet first, so even if they do get dirty, your bed stays clean). Someone mentioned only wearing "slippers" indoors, I think they were referring to bed slippers. In Hawaii, slippers are outdoor shoes (mainlanders call them flip flops) and they are also not to be worn indoors. I've never really known anyone to actually wear bed slippers here, doesn't mean it doesn't happen but, I'm team barefoot all the way.

Second thing I wanted to address, which I'm genuinely freaking out about, is that I'm pretty sure some of the cast was staying in the building next to my office building while they were filming. I wasn't watching the show then so I didn't have eyes out for them but the pictures of their game nights and super bowl watching is 100% the pool that I have spent way too much of my work days staring at and wishing I was in instead of doing taxes. The bummer is, I'm leaving this job in October so :fingcross: they start filming the second season soon and stay there again, and :fingcross: :fingcross: I can catch a glimpse in person or, dare I say, run into one of them?

The last thing I want to address came about in tonight's episode (which was honestly so lovely) and sort of ties into my first paragraph (yeah, this definitely turned into a long post, sorry). The chee-hoos were the first authentic bits of this show taking place in Hawaii and I got such a genuine feeling of joy and excitement hearing them. It felt real and I loved it.

Okay, end of my spiel. Sorry it got so long and I hope none of this comes across as condescending, that was truly not my intent. Just wanted to share some insights. Okay, bye bye.

Yeah, it's definitely gonna be September. It's CBS and they've already announced the fall schedule.

It's confirmed that they've been writing season two for some time now, so my guess is that they start filming late July and the show comes back late September.

That’s really cool to know. I dont know much of Hawaii besides what is in movies and series.
That last point is so interesting. I get the impression watching this show that they really try to incorporate and respect hawaiin culture.

I think in terms of characters, only Kai and Jane are really from Hawaii, right?

Hiii Hawaiian anon! Thanks for the insights. I can tell this show feels organic. It may be silly but for example while watching the last episode, I just felt the trade winds in the Lucy/Ernie and Lucy/Kate scenes, lol.

They should resume filming before October, so I say you'll get your chance to meet them, if you want to, of course. I think they use the Hawaii Film Studio.

It may. It's not unusual that these types of shows (20+ eps) start filming before the final episode is written in detail or they're still filming the last episodes when the show's already on air.

 It was so funny, like a “are you done yet?!!”

and then of course he goes and brings it up to Lucy cause he is king of making her see the things she is feeling and doesnt want to aknowledge.

The russian operative banter may now be my favourite of the bickering, although this ep 6 one is a tie:

“I take no pleasure”
“You take all the pleasure”
“I take very little pleasure”

For all of Ernie’s posturing about not getting involved in other peoples dramas, he thrives on it. So their bickering was at least a bit entertaining to him. What cracked me up was how shocked he was when Kate started serenading Lucy. He didn’t see that coming, which surprised me a little. One would think that someone in NCIS would have at least entertained the thought, by now, that Kate is borderline autistic. It explains why she is such a literal thinker, and why she is socially awkward. Maybe Jane has caught on, but keeps it to herself. She likes Kate and values her as a person, and not just for her excellent work. Even as much as Lucy loves Kate, I don’t think she has figured out what makes Kate tick. I hope they examine this next season, as well as Lucy’s family and their influence on her. I love her feistiness, but she’s a shade on the hard headed side when she’s thinking black vs white. We saw some growth with Kate this season. I would love to see Lucy expand her thinking a little more next season.

SA. I meant to say Kate is perhaps borderline autistic. That has not been determined, but is worth considering.

What do you think are Kate’s traits that have her on the spectrum?
I think it’s a possibility too, something they could somehow explore.

I was discussing autism with a friend the other day and she pointed out 3 distinctive traits, 2 of which match Kate. Literal thinking is the one I honed in on right away. Socially awkward/uncomfortable with others can be a sign, too; which we know Kate exhibits that trait. The third trait mentioned didn't seem to track for me. Autistic people don't like to be physically touched according to my friend. They do well in jobs that don't require much interaction with other people. They're also usually highly intelligent, which again; matches Kate. I've been thinking this since episode 7. My discussion with my friend came from a completely different topic, but reminded me of Kate.

Please no. I work with people with Autism every day. She does not exhibit any of these traits. She is able and wants to keep her work and personal life separate. She takes her job very seriously and I think there may be some back story as to why she takes her job so seriously aside from just wanting to keep people safe but she does not exhibit any signs of Autism.
