On the Pants podcast that was released today and recorded before the trip to Washington DC, Leisha & Kate said that Showtime paid for it. I thought that was interesting given they had cancelled GenQ. Makes me wonder if that signals anything about the NY spinoff getting the green light
Because otherwise why fork out the money for this and get that type of exposure for a series you just cancelled? Idk I’m probably reading too much into it lol
Tbh, I'm not gonna believe anything until there's official word about the NY reboot happening and in production. Because this could just easily be Showtime saving face because well, despite what people's opinions are about the show and hat it became,
it is a known and reputable one in the community's history that they did cancel.
And while it is forking out money, it's probably pocket change to Showtime in the long run.
Errm yeah, GenQ sure was unique and remarkable for being a show that fans rejoiced at being cancelled unlike all the other shows with lesbian characters, lmao.
Showtime still has lesbian characters on Yellowjackets, but they wanted to get clout during Lesbian Visibility Week for their more timid, non-cannibal lesbians. They're proud of the OG series for being groundbreaking during its time and is hoping we collectively forget about GenQ by not making it as accessible to stream.
It's funny that Kate dgaf and is being openly sarcastic about the whole free lunch despite getting fired thing while Leisha and JB were more diplomatic. Kate was also employed by Showtime for "Ray Donovan" for years, so you'd think she'd be more fond of a company that paid her bills for so long. Maybe Kate's giving up on acting altogether and doesn't care anymore.
My opinion on Kate is that it may be the elephant in the room that no one says, but she's a "nepo baby" and was way before the term was even invented.
So she very much has room, as she had been for as long as I've seen her in roles and real life to be nonchalant, less diplomatic, and care less about everything pertaining to the industry if we're being honest.
